LOOK
A Mental Health/Film Initiative
We believe filmmaking is a powerful tool in creating connections and getting conversations started around the complex topic of mental illness.
We believe filmmaking is a powerful tool in creating connections and getting conversations started around the complex topic of mental illness.
For the last 6 months a group of dedicated film industry volunteers have been creating films with students living with mental illness. Among the benefits of artistic expression are its therapeutic values and its capacity to communicate how each of us sees the world. In a time when stigmas, myths and stereotypes about mental illness dominate, filmmaking can serve to open doors into a more embracing and compassionate world. RIFFA’s Opening Night celebrates these students by presenting their intimate films to help others experience the world as they see it.
The LOOK Film and Fine Arts Program is an essential part of the RIFFA Academy, which is the educational arm of the Regina International Film Festival and Awards Foundation Inc.
